Saturday afternoon saw a big defeat for the Iceni Demons against Northants Lightning 82-27
The opposition started well with a lot of energy, we panicked and started to try to play at their pace. We lost the ball, couldn’t score, they stretched their lead and our heads went down.
Following time out and quarter time the girls picked up a bit of energy and we had a better 10 minutes in terms of game play. We drove to the basket, put some defensive pressure on, made cuts, put good passes in and took shots.
Unfortunately this was not enough to bridge the widening gap, against an experienced and physical team who did not lose their momentum.
Whilst this was not a positive result and we did lose sight of some real basics of the game, there was some absolute improvement with some of the players.
